tomorrow night

been a pretty busy week. spent a few days with Dave Lynch in Belfast working on tracks for the tour and recording a couple of B-sides for No cover up (the final single from sftdf). We had to pull an all nighter at the end to get everything finished and even then there is still loads to do!

Played the first live performance of I feel for you by Chaka Khan on Today FM which went really well (great relief there!) before going on The Cafe on RTE where we were treated to a very memorable version of stairway to heaven by Big Brother contestant - Carol..... yikes! (though she was going to give a copy of my CD to Vanessa Felts the next day).

Just back from rehearsing in Dundalk with soundman Oran. I am playing a warm up gig at the spirit store tomorrow night and am BRICKING IT!! Mind you the point of the show is to be able to run the set in front of an audience and learn from what happens so I suppose it's normal to feel a bit freaked out!?

Heyya! I saw you two years ago at Electric Picnic and was super impressed. Got your CD there and have enjoyed it ever since. Today I realized you've got videos out cuz one came up when I was looking for something else on YouTube. Really Really enjoying them. Can't wait to see where you go in the near future. Your sound is truly unique and I love it. I hope you come visit us here in Canada soon!

P.S. I love that you don't cover up your 'accent' when you sing. I stayed in Belfast for a year and totally fell for the accent.

After hearing you on Robin Mark's Revival in Belfast II, I wanted to find out more about the man who wrote and sang the moving "Some Kind of Love." What I discovered was an extraordinarily creative and talented musician and songwriter. It is true that your music is very different from what I usually enjoy. Some of it seems very sad; some is confusing or even disturbing. But much of it is beautiful and stirring. I am certain of one thing. The Lord has given you something - a gift, an ability - that is uncommon. May He bless you with complete fulfillment of all His purposes for your life. Oh, yes … I loved your performance of “Come Thy Fount of Every Blessing” from the audio section of your website. It was truly beautiful and brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for singing it.

Hey, just wanted to ask when your touring again?? Duke Special has become a bit of an obsession over the last few months!
It all started in Shepherds Bush in April or May when my other half and his mate suggested I come with them to see you play..I was totally blown away and fell in love there and then! Your lyrics are powerful, and as a Belfast girl I was very proud that you didn't try and cover up your accent. I was amazed that you managed to make the Connswater River sound romantic!! That song made me quite emotional - it brought back memories of being 4/5yrs old and going for Sunday morning walks with my dad...
From then on I told anyone who'd listen about Duke Special. Even my patients! When we were home in Aug we got a crowd together and went to the Empire. Amazing night. That was the night PW met PW!!
Next stop - Electric proms. The crowd was brilliant and loved the sing-a-long. You announced 4 nights in London and we made it to 3 (a little thing called work got in the way of the fourth night!). The Pigalle was fantastic tho my favourite has to be back at the Roundhouse.
From there it was a belated birthday present to see you (and Crowded House!) in Brighton. When you said you'd be signing autographs in the foyer, I found myself in a queue/scrum buying an album I already have just to get it signed turning in to a jibbering idiot when it came to my turn!
Finally, the amazing Royal Albert Hall. What a venue! You rocked!

Enjoy your well earned break. Have fun writing the new album - can't wait to hear it!

Gill

(can i just add, having read this thru, that I'm a sensible, almost 30yr old, with a good job, mortgage, bla, bla, bla...I fear I come across as a complete loon!!)
