In praise of Portrait

Right then... it seems that "Portrait" barely gets a mention in the reviews of Duke's repetoir. However there has never been a song that causes me to bounce quite so happily down the street when going to work in the morning.

Even if I do look rather stupid trying to skip in the triplets in the percussion line.

This is definitely my favourite from the latest EP, without a shadow of a doubt. The lyrics are genius, and the melody just makes me want to skip - and often I find myself doing just that.

Also, I love singing along to it and pronouncing "darling" in that adorable, thick, Belfast accent. "Darrrlun, yur broken hert wiz never on my maind..."

I agree, Potrait is a really amazing song. The lyrics baffle me though, the song is so happy but at the same time proclaims; "your broken heart is never on my mind," makes it so interesting......along with other lines.

At the moment im kind of imagining a guy wearing a tracksuit with a burbury cap on him and singing that in a "broad" belfast accent and there is an extremely funny expression on my face! :D

Thats how long I've been listening to PORTRAIT. I love it. Fab song. And its great on the motorway too, dead loud with a window open :)
