So, is anyone going to the Bush Hall gig on Thurs - and meeting up before?

If so, name the pub and time and I'll happily join you - I'm not that acquainted with that part of London

cheers

I'm going to Bush Hall with a few friends. Am travelling down from Barnet with one and meeting 2 others in the Central Bar (Wetherspoons) which is upstairs in the shopping mall opposite the Shepherds Bush central line tube - across the green - at about 7 - 7.30 pm.

Look out for a short girl with 3 tall, ugly blokes - that'll be us! (hope they're not reading this  )

The Bush Hall is lovely place to drink - there's a bar outside the concert room. So go there early!

Beforehand, there's the Defector's Weld (http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/55/5598/Defectors_Weld/Shepherds_Bush) - by a happy coincidence, it's both the nearest pub to the Bush Hall (pretty much), and the nicest pub in Shepherd's Bush!

Anyone know who's supporting tomorrow?

I'm still debating whether or not to go tonight.. as I live in Portsmouth and have to work a 12 hour shift tomorrow 8am-8pm...
thoughts on a post card please!

That's a tough one, Amy.... the extra UK dates in June don't take in the south so it might be your last chance to see Duke for a while and the gig might help you face your shift with renewed energy tomorrow. Then again, you might be completely cream-crackered!

I've got a feeling the support is Gary Dunne, but I'm not absolutely sure. I've heard good things but not seen him before.

Should be an excellent gig tonight and I'll hopefully pick up a copy of the new album! :)

dear amy.

music is a million times more important than work. sicknotes exist for these very reasons.

Well thanks for the advise, unfortunately I believe I have left it too late to make up my mind now..
I got to the southampton gig, and even helped with the merch stand.. so who knows next time I will definately make better plans to go. As for the sick note, I've on'y been at this job for 2 months and think it's a bit cheeky to call in sick, especially when I have 5 days off starting saturday.. thats one good thing about working 12 hour shifts - you get alot of time off together, although for my punishment I have just worked the equivelent of a 84 hour week!

Enjoy the gig tonight boys and girls- I'm sure I'll see you at the next one
xx

well Amy , you missed a great gig

featuring Poetry from Wayne Smith and support from Fast Emeperors , an excellent Belfast rock band, and Gary Dunne doing his looping thing so well !!

Highlights off the night were

Duke disappearing for a Pee Pee (Chip's words - not mine!!) whilst Chip demonstratied how to use the Whisk and Cheese Grater with Audience Participation included.
The amazing Ben Hales on Bass guitar and harmonisation,
and of course the extremely wonderful Duke himself playing the old faves along with some beautiful new tracks from the latest album such as "slip of a girl"

Finale was Duke, Chip and Ben jumping off stage for a singalong around the grand piano situated in the middle of the room.....

One to rememember ...... :D

duke appears to be having to nip off for a pee-pee quite a lot during this tour... despite his claims of only having a pint a night!

What a amazing gig last night! The whole impact and stage presence of Duke and co seems to have gone up a notch since I last saw him (back in Jan I think). Bagged myself a album boxset! Haven't attempted to play the records yet. Does anyone know what speed they're supposed to be played at? 78rpm like the Freewheel single?

The singles play at 45 rpm. I bought the album last night and was gonna play it right through before going to sleep, but as I couldn't find headphones to fit my record player, it was 2 am and I didn't want to annoy my neighbours, I had to settle for listening to just "no cover up" ever so quietly! Sounds fantastic... and I look forward to listening to the rest tonight. :)

Pissed off I didn't buy the box set in Wrexham but I was poor until I got paid today (not that that helps much)...they better have them at the Wolves gig!

I'm not sure if this has been posted up elsewhere but it's a video clip from the Bush Hall gig of the singalong of "You are my Sunshine" which someone has kindly put on video google:
