Duke et al,
I was just wondering when you expect "Songs From The Deep Forest" to be availble on CD or for download?

Cheers,

I was wondering about that actually, def have to get the cd! I have my box set but only have a record player at home in Kilkenny so I get withdrawel symptons whilst up in Dublin...

By the way, I'm pretty new here so erm hi guys, its really nice to meet you :)

I was gonna introduce myself fully but then I realised I would sound like Im at an AA meeting!
Anyway I'm heading to the Clonmel Junction fest tomorrow and I promise I'm bringing some friends along this time to make up for Portlaoise!! I'll let you all know how it goes.... ;)

Nope wasn't me I'm afraid! The only Northern gig I have seen Duke play was when he opened for Glen Hansard in Lisburn... :)

I should have probably waited, seeing as I've got the vinyl version of the album, but I just bought the promo CD version from vinyl exchange! :)

Me to, i only got it for the track listings though...

Also another little thing ive noticed is that see on the back of the promo CD, you'll find they have made a mistake in the numbering and made track 3 both freewheel and brixton leaves.

I duno, its just wee things like that, that make promo and demos kinda unique and special to me.

My promo CD arrived this morning, with correct tracklisting apart from Scarlett being spelt with one "t" if you wanna be picky. Guinness - your version is obviously rare and unique and will be worth a small fortune one day...

It's quite nice not to be jumping up and down to change the vinyl records so I've already listened to the CD 4 times today! Those songs sound fantastic. :D

Take no heed of my copy... mine has the scarlett spelt correctly so both of ours are just as unique!

We have both obviously been touched!

Question is guys, where did you get your hands on a promo then?

and, more importantly, I hope you are going to buy the album to maximise the chart position for our man.....

I collect everything the Duke has released so far... promos, Ep's album's, LP's, 10"

And the question that I must ask to people more in the know than I is...

Where can you "Pre-Order" a copy of the SFTDF before its release?

Guinness

myabe they've not finalised it yet. they sometimes do that on amazon with pre orders. just taken a look on there and the release date is wrong and it has no price so you cant order it.

i'll keep my eyes peeled on various sites and let you know

I've been getting promo CDs from www.vinylexchange.co.uk after someone on this forum recommended it.

And, of course, I'll be buying the official album release too! Look forward to more news of limited editions, pre-orders etc.....

That was on the european promo that had it's listing removed wasn't it?

Maybe it's going to have a different track order overseas?

When somebody at Victoria Station, London's branch of HMV checked for me on Thursday their computer only showed one release for it (no mention of a special edition) on Oct 9th...

Hi there,
I appear to have the same promo & cover as Guinness. I was just wondering if the finalised albums tracks will be exactly the same. Am I the only one who prefers the versions of Wake Up Scarlett, Freewheel & Last Night I Nearly DIed on the "Adventures in Gramophone" album. Not meaning to be overly critical or anything, the promo of Songs From The Deep Forest is a great piece of work.

If the album opens with "Brixton Leaves", I'll eat my (fictional*) hat.

Steve.

*but I will eat something just as indigestible instead.

I guess those of us who have the vinyl box set or promo CD (or both in some cases!) could start putting reviews on Amazon?

(not sure I can match the standard of Sneaky's reviews though :( )

hey dsthompson, I prefer adventure's freewheel def, its the the 'i've only got this morning to live...' part, think the best version though is on the freewheel ep. Think forests' scarlett is good because it's more dramatic and is a class start to the album but I suppose I do like the older one's better because I'm used to them! It's cool having all the versions on itunes so you can compare them, they are pretty different!
