Anyone else from the forum going to this date? Myself and Ian from here are going to trek over which should be all good!
Hello. I am that Ian. Say hi to Matt and I, if you are going to Carlisle - as we wont be from the area and will be scared!
and he'd better do love is a series of scars tonight! I've asked enough! lol
x
I shall be there with my bloke. I shall also be scared, not being from the area ;) Here's hoping it's as marvellous as the Sheffield date was last night :)
Couldn't make it :( Too much work.
Awaiting reports. Did you get your wish Ian?

Ian got his wish and i got mine for Closer To The Start, they changed the set around to cater for us winjing fan boys. haha.
Brief review:
We got there for about 7, thinking it was gonna start at 8 like the doors said, but the promoter or the owner wanted it to start after the Brazil match which finished at 9.45. So we went to a nice little bar next door called Essen to knock back some pints and watch Brazil. After half an hour, Duke, Chip,Thomas Traux and all the sound guys etc came in to the same place. So we all got chatting etc and watched the match which was excellent, again proving that the Duke is a legend when it comes to take the time out to talk to his fans unlike a lot of people out there. Ian chatted to Duke while i spoke to Thomas, who was amazed i bought his album in a store.
They left before us to probably go over sound checks one more time, my brother then came in and we went at the final whistle to go back to the brickyard. Mr Thomas Traux came on at 10pm and did an absolute god like set with his genius home made sister spinter and other instruments. He even did a few of my requests which kept me happy. So he got a pint of Guinness for his troubles.
Duke and Chip came on quite quickly and played another fantastic set, probably the best ive seen them to. Set was:
Scarlett
Closer To The Start :)
Everybody Wants
Brixton
Slip Of A Girl
I Let You Down
Maps
Broken Man
Don't Breathe
Portrait
Love Is A Series Of Scars [Finally Ian ey;)]
Freewheel
No Cover Up
Last Night
Salvation
You Are My Sunshine
Few facts, for people. Before he played No Cover Up, i shouted for him to make something up. And the Duke did! He told me the van had broke down, so he made a decent song up about being stuck in Carlisle which went down really well! I never knew he covered You Are My Sunshine, it went down really well as well and ended with Duke And chip standing on one of the tables leading everyone in to a mass sing song. Only downside of the night were two f*cking annoying lasses at the back talking very loudly. Im all for a little chat, but please keep it down! Especially in the calmer songs.
After the gig we gung around and had another chat with Thomas and Duke and then headed in to the night to buy some chips, not before Ian bought yet more merchandise!
I'm going to be picky now... ;) 'Maps' was actually replaced by a cover of Neil Young's 'Harvest'... and 'No Cover Up' wasn't played at all - Chip went running to sit on his box for 'Last Night' as soon as Peter had finished his Carlisle ditty :)
Top gig - absolutely brilliant performances by Peter, Chip and Thomas and well worth the not getting home again til 2am this morning - thanks boys :D

Hehe, well thats what the setlist said, I thought Maps wasn't played!
I think Ian recorded Love Is...... on his camera, hopefully he'll post it sumwhere, i know he's got a few pictures.
Oh I'm overjoyed! And indeed I did record most of Love Is A Series Of Scars. Truly beautiful. I've added a little black and white effect to make it look arty (plus it hides my shakey camera skills!)
It wont let me post it here, so follow this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ic0Gp-B_lPE
And here are my pictures (again, just thought I'd keep the b&w theme - no idea why!)

AMAZING NIGHT. Shame the place wasn't packed as they deserved it last night. Thanks once again to Pete and Chip. Top stuff. Can't wait until next time.

Hey all,
Carlisle was a fantastic gig last night. Well worth the 2hr trip from North East to North West! Shame the venue wanted to wait til 10pm to start the performances. Suffice it to say I ate most of the Cheese and Onion Crisps from behind the bar ;)
Dawn and I had a bit of banter with Duke before the gig, he really is a star when it comes to making time to talk to his fans! Even had a chat to Thomas Truax, who was more than keen to inform us on how Sister Spinster was enjoying the tour!
Thomas' set was one of the best I've seen: The fact that the front of stage was squidgy cushions, and he laid down to hum a song for a minute or two, really made for a laugh. Had to smile at a couple of "older bods" in the audience, who despite all of Thomas' rather amusing antics, failed to raise much of a smile! Guess you can't please everybody!
It was good that Duke and Chip reworked their set to take into account the fact a few familiar faces were there, and the addition of Don't Breathe was great, as we hadn't seen him play that live since the first time we saw him in Stockton.
Shame about the talking in the audience, but at the front it didn't spoil things too much :)
Can't wait to see the Dukester again; roll on the next UK tour!
When I get back from work I may post some pics;
Thanks for another great night Duke and Chip :)

Top notch video there Mr Ian, have you still got Mr Traux's performance of The Fish, or did that get erased for Love Is A Series Of Scars.

Hey all,
As promised, here's our pictures from Duke's Carlisle gig.
Starting off with Mr.Truax and his antics ;)
Here's the squidgy stage I was on about ... he decided to lie down to perform this song!

Mr.Truax with the Hornicator!

And then the almighty Duke and Chip set about their task!
It quite amused me what was scrawled on Duke's chair ... lol!

Aw thanks everyone. It really sounds like it was an exceptionally good gig and I'm even more hacked off at not being able to make it. Especially as Duke played 'Closer to the stsrt' which is one of my very favourites. Still, all the words and pictures are fantastic.
Many many thanks. Hope to see some of you soon.
Jan xx
haha. did anyone else laugh at the seat that peter sat on for the whole gig? it had "I fucked here!" scrawled across it! made me smile anyway! dirty dukester :p

Yes, we saw the scrawl.
See my pictures above ... when you hover on it it gets bigger and you can make out the scrawl lol.
It was also amusing that into the second song Duke had to use what looked like cushions to make the seat a bit higher! :P
