The Big Tape Swap

ok here's the deal. everybody loves mixtapes and cd's... i've done this on a few other message forums and it's a great way to discover new music. here's how it works...

i will make a tape or cd for the person who replies to this post. they will in turn go on to make a tape or cd for the person who replies to their post and so on and so on...

when you want your music sent out you just pm the person who is making your album with your contact details so that no personal information is being put out on the site.

so to sum it up all someone has to do is reply to a post and state which format they'd like their album in...

you can also post the tracklisting for your eclectic mixes so other users can get an idea of what kind of music we're all into...

i think that's everything!

I was first in line and -*ahem* - I am still awaiting the glorious mix from the sneaky one (to be fair, he warned it would take a while as he was in the midst of a move)...but I'm just excited, as I am about any new good music I discover...and I'm assuming good taste on Mr. Bandit's part, since he likes Duke.

Peter, aka The Duke of Specialness, received my mix CD last week.

I'd be interested in seeing what everyone put on their tapes/CDs...maybe we can do a separate thread with our track listings...just for fun. Would that interest anyone else? if so, I'll start it.

That should be written in the inside of an album cover, on the back of the book! It accually does symbolise someone's view on how their work was brought out and to be honest i think it sounds very realistic and ballsy! :wink: Good going, i love it!

Actually Dawn, having had a good listen now because it's on constant rotation in the car I like Everything on there. Of the few I knew of before - Teenage Fanclub, Rufus, James, The Jam and Tom McRae etc... all were favourites of mine. Of the songs I didn't know, as I said I like them all so the only thing I could say is the ones that jumped out at me first. Stephen Fretwell, I had heard some of his songs on the radio but couldn't put a name to him before. Love that song Rose. Polly Paulusma sounds brilliant, hadn't heard of her. David Ford, I hear a lot of on the Duke forum but hadn't heard any music from and sounds brilliant. Ben & Jason. The Delays. I could go on and on but I would be just reading the tracklisting out loud.
There was a label on the envelope from the post office saying that it had been misdelivered at first and apologises etc. which explains why it took a while to receive.
Thanks again, it's opened up quite a few musical avenues that I will explore further.

What I was planning on doing, though, was taking stuff I have saved on my PC from the compilation CDs we make for the long Icelandic road trips that would be - to my mind - more palatable to Duke fans. I am perfectly happy making you Sigur Rós CDs too, y'know. Just don't expect them to be anything like Duke Special apart from there being a piano in there! I'll ease you in gently with Sigur Rós, again choosing the tracks I think might be more acceptable to the ears of boardies. Some of the pieces might make you all cry in fear and run into bushes, clutching your ears.

I'm off and away for a few days in the morning but I'm happy to do it when I get back. I'll PM you to trade addresses.

I'm no Sigur Ros virgin! My brother's a fan so i know a good bit. I don't know what way this is wroking now. All i know is i'm making a cd for Jan. Am i making one for GG too?!
Anyway i'm heading up to Donegal today and during the journey up and back i shall be combing through my i-Pod very carefully choosing songs. Is there anyone you are a big fan off and have all their albums etc Jan? Just i don't want to make you a cd with a load of songs you already have!
And mine will be a big mix of music types because i have quite ecclectic taste- but there will be no so called "R&B" or rap or any of that. And there'll prabably be 2 cds cos i can never narrow it down!:rolleyes:
