Yet another amazing set, I've been quite spoilt lately with regards Duke S. gigs...Whelans, Portlaoise and then Clonmel! I had a feeling we wouldnt see him for a while and man did he go out in style..
My boyfriend Maurice was up front taking photies as usual and I think he managed to get a few video shots so I'll tell him to post a link up here as soon as he has them online. Being the scavenger that he is, Maur also managed to grab Chips setlist. They did make a few changes towards the end but here's how it read;
Scarlett
Everybody
Brixton
Don't Breathe ("belfast is known for a lot of things...this is about a bank robbery")
I let You Down
Maps
Ballad (sounded fantastic live)
Portrait (the first single release off the album)
Last Night
(I think he went into a razorlight song here)
Freewheel
Low
Salvation
*************
No Cover Up
John Lennon (didnt play)
Video Killed (didnt play)
At one stage he started singing something that sounded lyrically very like Damo Dempseys 'Negative Vibes' ...but I could be very much mistaken.
He didnt play Radio Killed in the end and decided instead to burst into 'You are my Sunshine' which sonded great. After a brief but intimate moment with Mr Scottish Soundman, he and Chip hopped up on the bar and conducted the crowd for a while.
Absolutely brilliant gig, the place was packed but I dont think a lot of people were actually familiar with his music. One things for sure, he definately made quite a few new fans last night and rightly so.
Come on France!!!
