rtbc:

A friend did something very special for me tonight, knowing I would be in a hard place tonight, they came over to take my mind off things even though they have to be up for work in the morning...the thought that someone would do that for me just really touched me.

rtbc: having some of the nicest friends anyone could wish for.

Just in from best evening in ages, just took new car for spin with my mate (even though he wouldnt let me drive), laughed and laughed and laughed, was beginning to forget how easy that is in the right company.

can I just say as well, that the people on this forum are really super... i know a good few of ye know each other but you are all so welcoming and kind and nice to everyone, its really lovely, and something you dont find on forums much! everyday i seem to read something on here that makes me smile, as heartwarming as Duke sometimes! anyway, just wanted to say that cos im all happy right now!

AWWWH! :D thats well sweet m'dear...fank you! and may I just say that you were one of my rtbc yesterday...it is quite mad how much we have in common and how much we get on [so quickly!!] and that email that I woke up to and the pic to cheer me up just made it easier...oh and talkin cack on my phone's msn while waiting for news was cool so thanks...

Getting a garden all planted up and looking goooood after a year of hard work on it to reclaim it from a wreck and the client really likes it too.
My cat watching a wildlife film on TV........she thinks it's a cookery programme......and how beautiful she is after 5 months as a housecat. Instead of being a stunted, practically hairless excuse for a cat and a failed farm cat, she is a gorgeous strawberry blonde little princess, 18 months old now and the sweetest, most cuddly little creature I've ever met.
I bless the day I said I'd rehome her.
My daughter, who was 18 on Sunday, and, even though her friends let her down badly in my opinion on the day and tried to spoil her day, she still managed to have a good time, still makes me laugh and went to see Duke Special last night with me because she actually likes the music :D
A quiet night in with a couple of G&Ts and the telly........multi-tasking by posting this too.
The love of old friends......worth more than diamonds.
xx

Awh Jan! What a lovely post!

You sound like you have a lot of things to cheerful about :)

Mine today:
>that babies seem to have a way of bouncing back from things you never expect them too...
>that there are some genuine people in my life who care about the things I do, simply because I do!
>that there are always people on hand to get hyper with me -even if its online!
>that i didn't have to pay for the free hour long skype conversation me and katie just had [60 mins @ scary pence per min on my mobile would have been too much for my bank manager to cope with!!]
>john d'arcy replying to my message, such a wee cutie!
>and looking forward to get into my bed with all my fluffy pillows!

jan

So do you Siano :D
Today........surviving the ordeal of a day at MetroCentre, getting my Deep Forest CD and seeing MANY copies just ready to walk off the shelves in HMV, Virgin and Music Zone.
The downside being that I asked them to play it in HMV but they weren't....er, playing.....'It's the senior members of staff who choose what's played', so where are they and who are they? 'Don't know'....went back later hoping someone would come up to ask if I was alright so that I could say 'NO! You're not playing Duke Special!' but no one did for a change :(
Walking away from a potential confrontation with a mother whose fat little boy had just assaulted me from the rear quite violently.....not easy for a Taurean.
Being at home on a wild, wet night.
My cat Florence who is always so pleased to welcome us home and is so beautiful :)

rtbc:

1. im very merry. and tomorrow is a bank holiday so wah-hay. had a wonderful night with lovely new people who gave me great life advice - god i love being the youngest for a change :P
2. getting hols soon and going to 2 DS gigs followed by my round the country road trip where i get to meet new ppl
3. knowing that as bad as things seems sometimes just being in the room with someone can make them feel like life aint so bad - and knowing that my family are 110% wonderful. I love them sooo much!
4. listening to great music at 3am, smiling, not having to get up in the morning

What a manic couple of weeks... everything has been so confusing lately... but in the past hour:

1) i got an increase in my scholarship funding.. its only small but hey :)
2) my mom finally got some news from the doctor types... <breathes>

at the end of the day, things can fall apart all around you but with family and friends and health there should always be a reason to be cheerful!!

Note to all:

This is a disclaimer. I do not force people to be my friend no matter how Ms Guiinness' post may infer. I do not carry invisible handcuffs around with me in a little "forced friendship" kit. This is not my attitude and approach to attaining new friends.

End of Disclaimer.

Well, I must say...

Due to my large intake of guinness, it being stout and all, and having a whopping 220 calories per pint. I think I should be Mr.November! EVEN THOUGH... it is coming to the end of the month and my reign will only be for the most of one week. I am happy to be put down as the first beer belly of the year! (The year starting in November of course!)

On the contrary Conor, my fellow Guinness drinker, we will be the last to get beer bellies, look:

Despite its reputation as a "meal in a glass" or "liquid bread", Guinness only contains 198 calories (838 kilojoules) per imperial pint (20oz UK) (1460 kJ/L), less than an equal-sized serving of skimmed milk or orange juice and most other non-light beers. (Wikipedia)

Mine will always be a Guinness http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m95/punishmentkiss/guinness.gif

I've been reporting on gigs since the turn of the millennium. One of the
first bands I ever waxed lyrical about was Snow Patrol. I was instantly hooked
by the giddy intro to Starfighter Pilot and felt the world needed to know about
this band. Now, I guess the world is catching up but I still have so much more
to say. The creative vibe given out by Messrs Lightbody and Co. sparks
something within even the dormant writer awakening the muse and urging us to put
pen to paper or the clicking of keys in today's online blog equivalent.

reasons to be cheerful...

1. its nearly the best time of the whole year
2. despite the mad weather my sister did manage to get home and ill collect her in ck 2m YAY
3. all the cheery ppl saying happy christmas to each other

but most of all.. something lovely happened earlier. i received a really meaningful thank you from someone. A few weeks back a good friend of mine was in a really bad way. Like all the people I care about I would have done anything to make life a little easier at the time. I got a phone call in the middle of the night, looking for a shoulder to cry on. I collected him in the middle of nowhere and drove him the 2hr journey to his home. I was happy to do it, and knew that the chat had helped. I hadnt forgotten about the night but put it in the back of my mind.

I received a note today, from his mother. I have never met the lady. She wrote to thank me for helping her son when he needed someone. It was a lovely letter and a lovely gesture to make that effort. Made me feel all warm inside and reminded me that caring about others is good, even if it gets you hurt sometimes.

I am, like Jan, determined to get the rtbcs to outnumber the rntbcs...

1. I now know I can make amazing thai green chicken curry at first attempt.

2. The John D'Arcy gig last night was fanflippingtastic.

3. I was on the phone earlier and my nephew was in his nana's arms and gurgled down the phone at me because he heard my voice (ok maybe not cos he heard me, but I am telling myself that was the reason!)

4. I got some pretty nice affirmations from some folk on the SP board (after being voted Best Newbie 2006 last week yay for my geeky happiness)

5. I have some AUHMAZING friends...

6. I heart miming to songs

7. I laughed lots last night to the point where my tummy is sore today :)

8. My friend now hearts Duke too and she is coming up to the Belfast show

9. I got my housemate to like him now too!

10. I have to have lists that end on an even number and that is an OCD rtbc!

Conor!!! SHUT UP!! lol

Ok...so

1lb of chicken (quorn)
5 smallish potatoes
400g Peaches (in peach juice)
Tin of coconut milk
2 tbspns Onion Relish
Green curry Paste (or a sachet)
Onion

Saute onion+chick/quorn til sealed
Add potato/half the can of coconut milk/curry paste/onion relish
High for 5-10 mins

Add rest of ingredients
Simmer for 35-45 mins on lowish heat...stir often! If it reduces too much, add some milk!!

Serve with Rice in fancy bowls and Naan Bread if you can find it!! :D

How simple is that!! :) Fabulouso!

in a week when i needed support more than ever, and needed my friends.... i found conern and interest in the most unexpected of places. The person knows who they are, and they will read this at some poitn so - i just want to say thank you. Its the little things that count sometimes, a simple 'how are you doing?' can make a hard day that bit more bearable. So thanks for caring. It means so much, and it wont be forgotten.

It was really stressful til I got the hang of casting on!!! Then I sat up til 4am knitting away.

Also want to say a MASSIVE congrats to a person on this board! I'm so happy for them and the news the found today!

Thank you honeybee!! For those who care...I got some news today about a possible project in Nairobi that I have been asked if I am interested in. Big shock to be considered but it looks like it might just happen!!

Also I am back on the fags. I am weak! I blame Scott tho ;)

Aw Siano, we're all weak cos we're human :) Just keep trying!
I find crochet to be less stressful as you've only got one stitch at a time to worry about!
Have it on good authotity that Kenya is fantastic - friend spends every Christmas in Africa -Kenya or Tanzania and intends to retire there.

weddings!!!

/off to buy hat at the rusty zip

key to weddings, book everything early, then sit back and relax till the week beforehand. nothing worse than deciding on a band or whatever and finding they are booked by the time you get to them

Sunny
24-01-2007, 3:58 pm
yeah exactly only problem is we're not gonna be able to pay for everything at the one go but i suppose we could get a loan and that would sort that problem. Ah its all a bit mad really i cant believe i actually have to plan a wedding

arginite
24-01-2007, 4:17 pm
dont worry about the paying yet, at the booking stage you just need to be able to come up with a deposit. musicians/photographers etc will expect payment on the day/after the photos (deposit on booking). by that stage you will have gotten all those lovely cheques!!!!

happy days :)
