Right tough one... so many things good and bad.

Today's reason not to be cheerful is that my lovely little VW Bug is going to a new home and I will really really miss him.

Ode to Burt:
My cute little bug you were the best car ever and im sooooo sorry!! :'(

Yes!

How can I get the dust of my sensor without bringing it to a photography shop or blowing into it with my breath?

DSLR you mean??

If it is only a bit dusty and not dirty then buy a 'Rocket Blower' they look kinda rude but it has this twisty nossle thing that lets you angle the air (very light air) in the direction you want. Great for 'on the go' and mirrors as well. DO NOT let the nossle touch the sensor!!! The only thing that should ever touch the sensor is a swab with solution or one of the special brushes you can buy.

Ok if it is really dirty then you need to buy a Copperhill Sensor Cleaning kit, about ?30 and swab the sensor! It is no harm to have this on standby as you will need it at some point.
Sensor cleaning servies offered in exchange for chocolate or JD. Oh wait... you live in Belfast! :( Ah well

This is where I buy mine from, Chili Pix, best value!
Copperhill Cleaning

DO NOT blow into the camera.
DO NOT use a can of pressurized air to blow into the camera.

Guinness

Right, Well I'll take those into consideration.

I thought though when you touch the sensor it invalidates your warranty?

arginite

I thought though when you touch the sensor it invalidates your warranty?

Yeah it does. But that is exactly what the shop will do and charge you twice the price. Every photographer I know cleans his own sensor, except for 400D users who dont need to do it at all :( Its scary first time round but it is the only solution. If you dont want to go through that then get the rocket blower, that'll remove most of the gunge without going near the sensor.

My housemate:

Lovely girl.

But holy hell does she ever do anything but moan?? Now, as I have said I love moaning, its what I do best but everything has to be about her. Every time we talk she has SOMETHING wrong with her...At least I can be happy sometimes?! Grrrrrrr

Thoughts are with you Sian.x

My reason not to be cheerful for today is WORK. Customers just thinking that because you are significantly younger than them that you don't have a clue how the company runs or what the policy is and asks to speak to the manager which just tells them exactly the same thing. Also the fact that when you are meant to finish work at 10 and then they expect you to work work work until they see fit, which tonight was 11

Oh yeah thanks Jan, I had one of those things before but it fell apart one day when I was draining my vegetables with it. I'm not too worried about the premature senility though! I get lots of emails everyday from the eastern bloc offering cheap cures for that. In fact I get so many...... frankly I'm getting a little paranoid that people are spreading rumours...........

I think we may have strayed into some European website - half the folks are talking in foreign! They could be saying anything!

Ditto Jan :)
Most people assume I'm vegetarian for health benefits?? Ah no, Guinness and red wine are (supposedly) detrimental to my health and I have absolutely no intention of giving them up.

Not long now till a huge bunch of UK viewers become smitten with the Dukester and join us devotees....
Basing that on the amount of new bands I've discovered from Later with Jools

'Portrait' and 'No Cover Up'.....bliss :D

jan
03-11-2006, 10:25 pm
Not long now........ah the anticipation!
I've told everyone to watch Later........several of them people I work for who are 'English ladies of a certain age' and they all think I'm barking 8) ....
hey, this should be on the Reasons to BE cheerful thread......
What the heck...........anyone wanting to post here from this moment on tonight had better listen to David Ford's Cheer up you miserable ****! (With deference to a previous poster making this suggestion)

Cheer up etc is a great song though and what I really meant was that if anyone wanted to hear it i could do a secret tape thingy whatsit...nudge nudge wink wink
If it hadn't been that i wanted to go and see Mr Ford in Feb I would never have heard of Duke Special since he was supporting at the time and wouldn't have been constantly digging myself out of the hole I'm in with this forum :D :D :D
We have some neighbours we don't get along with and I make a point of playing Cheer up...etc on the car stereo as we pass when the mood is right

rusty66
07-11-2006, 7:43 pm
I know all the words to Shrek :D

I worked for Xtravision for 4 years and that was my "happy" film! I loved it and can stil, to this day quote it! I especially love after Halleluyah plays...

"Donkey?!?! what are you doing here?"
"I would think of all people you know a wall when you see one"
"But the wall is supposed to go around my swamp, not through it!"
"It is. Around your half see, this is your half and this is my half"
"Your half?"
"Yes, my half...I helped rescue the princess, I did the half work so I get half the booty..now hand me that big old rock, the one that looks like your head."
"GRRRRRR....Fine!"

I am going to stop now....ahem

RNTBC- I had to go to A + E today due to the war injuries I received Sat night by some randomer's lethal stilettos...!! :( I thought I would be ok and could handle the injury because I'm a student nurse....but no. It got worse even though I had nursed it well, I followed all the rules! Cleaned it , elevated it and put a cold ice pack compression against it. My friends made me go because I couldn't walk properly without pain or get my boot off the swelling was that bad, the whole top of my foot including my toes are bruised....So yeah tissue damage and suspected ligament damage due to crush injury, yay!

My reasons not to be cheerful today and its my first post in this thread so...!

1. I messed up my shifts and came in an hour early for work this morning. I was fecking wrecked this morning too!
2. Came down to the computers to find that there are actually no more tickets available for sale for The Gaiety and as I said before I never ever wins things.
3. Then I head back upstairs and my phone goes off really loud and gets everyones attention who then feel inspired to slag me about said eary rise and my ringtone-its Lay Me Down by the Frames its not the crazy frog or anything!!!! Grrr grumple humpf argh

lol ro... i don't learn anything medical from scrubs. i just watch it for the relationships advice :)

when i was in hospital with my cellulitis they told me they might have to cut my leg open and drain it or remove the infected area... eek!

Yikes! I was told it could get nasty alright esp. if it's not caught early.....fingers crossed the anti biotics do their job. About Scrubs it is very educational programme....erm it helps that the delightful Zach Braff is in it too.....

For anxiety I would recommend using essential oils like lavender, geranium or palma rose....all very good for girlies.
Using them in a burner is lovely......but use them sparingly as too much can have the opposite effect.
Bergamot, grapefruit and neroli are good too......all are citrusy and lift the spirits.

K... what mac said means this:

Its a line from one of my fav Beatles songs "I'm So Tired" on the White Album.

It references Sir Walter Raleigh in its initial verses "I'm so tired, I'm feeling so upset Although I'm so tired I'll have another cigarette And curse Sir Walter Raleigh He was such a stupid git"

It refers to the fact that Raleigh is famous for popularising tobacco.

Make sense now?

Sorry that you have that problem with lavender Sian....me too, I used to drop it on my pillow when worried and probably over-did it because i can't use the oil now but when I have to work amongst lavender plants I find it calming.
Geranium is very good for girlies who have stressful problems but my faves are grapefruit and neroli.
Worth a try?

can i just get one bigger ball for the bottom, would it still fit on the original bar? or would i need to get a new bar with bigger balls?

Guinness
09-01-2007, 9:55 pm
Bars rarely change in size due to them being standard for most areas of the body (1.6 or 16 gauge)

The balls you can buy from nearly any jewllery shop (fresh garbage, in shops, skin works) and depending on what your problem is depends on how big u need your balls and what material they should be when thinkin about the weight factor and how that may stretch your existing piercing hole.

rusty66
09-01-2007, 9:58 pm
Cool, thats Mr O.

I will pop into fresh garbage tmoro...think it could be because I have always kept with the original bar that I got once the swelling went down...so its been the same bar for over three years..I am suddenly realising how completely mank that is...!

boak. knew you'd know! ta mucho

Guinness
09-01-2007, 10:03 pm
So long as you continue to clean it that bar is probably the best and safest bar that you can use. It will either be made out of surgical steel or titanium.

Only thing that might irritate your wound is if the bar is exceptionally long for your tongue. When I had mine done, my tongue was relatively fat so the bar was the perfect size even when it had fully healed.

Anyway, don't worry it could be worse... My tongue went through a phase of trying to grow over my bottom ball and inbed it in my skin.

:smt118

rusty66
09-01-2007, 10:17 pm
See that is what is has been doing...and as Claire will tell you I look like a rehab sticking my tongue out to get the ball loose. Minging. Might try a shorter bar while I am at it...

Onefreeman, the skin is broken, it's basically separated from the bone. Sometimes it is still attached to the end of the finger, sometimes it's completely detached as it was in this case...*shudders*, which makes things difficult for reattachment. It's not pleasant. The main thing is just to provide pain relief, comfort and support to the patient before surgery. But all in a days work.

My RNTBC (for the weekend):

The In-balance my body must have, as just like the first night of working there were a few accidents!
*I dropped a pint of Foster's on a fellas knee...(wasn't too impressed to say the least)
*Walked into a fella who was carrying a tray of 4 champagne flutes and 4 bottles of Stella

How can mothers disguise the most hurtful, scathing and cutting remarks as things that you "should be aware of...only in your best interest".

Yes, actually I am aware of the state of my life, I do not need you to constantly point it out to me...over and over again. And then she wonders why I don't go home more often?!

I start back to uni in just over 8 hours and I'm still wide awake :(

Sian, today must be the day to argue with parents then! Cheer up though it's not all bad - less than a month to the Duke's gig now

woo Claire can quote properly now!

No the reason I was left wandering is because stupid other module was cancelled too but no1 informed me. I got up at SEVEN O CLOCK (ive not seen that time in weeks!) and went to class, no-one there. went to the lecturers office. she didn't know anything. she's not teaching it. doesn't know who is. FFS!

Also got my dissertation proposal mark back. It is a high 2:2 but thats not good enough. Its given me a kick up the arse. Need to up my work. But it's all good!! :)

got an email last night about my appeal that left me crying myself to sleep, which hasnt happened for about 7 years. things are incredibly grim right now.... and... i think i have the flu... and i really wish i stayed at home at the wkend, and not done silly things, and i cant get over to join the rest of my family to see my new niece.....

actually in short, i have NOTHING to be cheery about right now,.,.., cept maybe that the album i preordered from Play has just arrived, but thats not even cheering me up.

Yes thank you to all who were involved and make the night a great success.

It was brilliant and the "special" people that were there also put that little something to the night when it was just starting to get settled down.

Thank you to Scott, John and Chris for doing such a fantastic job with the sound and music. You guys where great!

So my initial plans for Nairobi are now scuppered. I received the volunteer pack today and its $10 a day for accomdation...No way I can stay longer than 3 months now. So I might just go in Sept and be back for Christmas :( Not perfect but I guess I can work for a while when I get back and then if I want, go back over?? Just means I have to either persuade my cousin to lose 3 months rent, find somewhere else to live in January or pay her for 3 months to keep my room available :(

Why can nothing go to plan?!

Fintan
05-02-2007, 10:29 pm
Everything happens for a reason Sian, just remember that and I'm sure it will all work out. 3 months is still a lovely length of time and you will still get the experience. But at this stage it could all change again and for the best. :)
