The press review of the Manchester gig contained a reference to Duke's percussionist, Chick Billy, which has caused a certain amount of in-the-know hilarity.....and quite right too :)
It made me think......we all live in wonderfully different places and dialects are our way of keeping our local identity, soooooo........
what's your favourite bit of dialect?
I favour the Geordie enquiry of a parent wishing to know if their offspring is out of bed (I text it to Gilly at about 10 am when I'm working away from home)
'Yup?'
Followed by,
'Yup yit?'I
if no response is forthcoming after about 20 minutes:
'Yup noo?'
Usually does the trick.
