I didnt think the person died in Canada. I thought someone died here and he heard from the person in Canada when they died. :?:
I took as being the person did die in Canada & he cant go over to funeral or visit
:?:

Yeah Craig I took it as they died in Canada also...maybe someone he was once close to but they had drifted apart :?:
I like interpretting songs into your own meaning!

Dear Mr.Admin, Rufus, Andy and of course the one and only Mr.Sinecura.....
Any ideas? Would love to know what this is about.... even if it doesn't really have a deeper meaning ;)
I interpreted those lyrics as a person who was close to him died in Canada. The lyrics, "the clowns are killing me to join their side", perhaps he wishes he were dead too so he could be with this person and God :?: Yes slighty morbid, I could be way wrong, but when someone very close to you dies, sometimes you feel that way.
The lyrics "Bloodshot vision keeps me here" could mean bloodshot vision from crying or that he is stuck in this mindset of sadness and grief. Then the lyrics, "Take me crawling from the corner" may indicate he misses this person and wants them there to save him from his sadness and take his pain away, "Would you lay your love on me".
I think the last verse just describes how desperate he is to see this person again naming all these different places this person could be, just trying not to face the reality that this person has died. Well that's my probably very wrong interpretation of "Salvation Tambourine" but I'm afraid still doesn't answer your question Guinness!

i don't think it's about a real person at all now.
i had a good listen to the song last night and have re-read the lyrics today and decided that in my interptretation of the song. the "she" is a metaphor which just represents a part of the main characters life that has gone and 'died' or been banished to the past.
i have a lot more thoughts on the song but they're not really relevant to the initial question.

^Thats a good interpretation of it but the lyrics are still really hard to understand, it seems like it has a pretty deep meaning. Agreed on contacting Mr.Sinecura.....what is this song actually about :?:

I would advise more about contacting the Dukester via the "ask the Duke" section...
Big writing, loads of replies might grab his attention as he is an extremely busy person these days being famous!
Ok new thread made for the meaning of "Salvation Tambourine" in the "ask the duke section", now we just have to wait and see if anyone replies...... :)

I suggest putting your request in the Podcast questions section before it closes. You may be lucky enough to get an answer from Duke there... or he might decide to stay enigmatic about it!
^ Aah good thinking Robin. Thanking you kindly for the advice.
Wow lots of different ideas on the meaning...really interesting
