Hey, just been listening to this band from Montreal. Kelly Osbourne played the track "Intervention" on Zanes slot on radio 1. Couldn't quite believe my ears. Anyone else heard of them or am I embarrassingly slow?? Intervention on itunes doesn't appear to be working though. New album 'Neon Bible' out in smarch.

you're not "embarrasingly" slow but just a wee bit slow.
arcade fire had an ep called "arcade fire" out a few years ago which got them a bit of hype on the underground scene. their first full album "funeral" was one of the biggest and best albums of late 2005 early 2006 i think. or maybe it was out slightly before then. the likes of hotpress, nme and the like have been raving on about them for the last 2 years or so and it's only now that the corporate-scene like radio one and mtv are catching on.

they also sold out two nights in the dublin olympia in 8 minutes the other day. mostly to ticket touts but that's another story.

oh yeh and i would definitely recommend getting a copy of "funeral" if you're impatient waiting for "the neon bible" to come out. i be you'll recognise some of the songs when you hear them.

yeh there was a big fuckup on the part of ticketmaster uk and ireland last friday. the entire arcade fire tour (for all gigs) and razorlights irish shows sold out in minutes because you could select up to 50 tickets in one go.

When I went to USA Early Spring 2005 I went to a really random music and asked them to recommend a random band that they thought woul be making it big and I was given Arcade Fire- Funeral. So I can officially say, for the first time in my life, I was before the media hype!

DST- Go get it! Tis a really good album.

i was on the arcade fire forums today and read that funeral was first released in late 2004. (i must be older than i think).

if you're looking for the older stuff, it's sometimes referred to as the "us kids know ep".

i should've remembered it was in 2004 because i heard of the band shortly after the actual arcade fire in belfast's north street arcade lol.

Track #4 from Funeral, "Neighbourhood #4 (Power Out)" is a cracking tune. Weird video to it too.

They're an AWESOME band- and from what I've heard of the new album, it's gonna be a contender for album of the year at the very least.

God how i love them! Saw them in the Big Top(my first time in the pit!) Twas incredible. Everyone jumping around and all the singing back. The energy and atmoshpere was great and i really liked Clinic. Freaky sound they have and all the songs are really simple, just the same chord over and over again. Loved thier top hats and doctors masks too!;)
The highlights were: No Cars Go, Rebellion and Power Out. Loved the way in Power Out when Win said "Lights out!" guess what happened?!:p Cool.
Was just brilliant, i smiled and danced the whole way through!

Ooh, Clinic were supporting? I didn't even realise they were still on the go. Very weird stuff but uber catchy. Don't know if anyone would remember but one of their songs was used in a Levi (I think) advert many moons ago. I believe that many of the percussion sounds in that song were made by the singer just making random noises, which is rather cool. :)

If you're embarrassingly slow what does that make me?

I've literally just discovered them this evening  and quite believe how I've managed to miss them up until now.

From what I've heard so far I'm mightily impressed.

What I particularly like is the texture to their music.

Much like Duke, there invariably seems to be something else going on in the background away from the immediacy of the song in question.

I hope I've explained that properly - basically, they're best listened to via headphones because there's stuff you'll miss otherwise (or is that just me?).
