Anyone have any media contacts? (Work experience hunt)

Right, so my little sister is supposed to be going on work experience in two weeks and her english teacher, who had assured her that she could find a placement, has now turned round and said that all her contacts have said no.

Would anyone on these boards know of anywhere that a 17-year-old girl could do a placement for a week on short notice? She's interested in journalism but at this stage she'll take anything remotely relevant.

Niall, same thing happened to me. I was writing bits and bobs for the Irish News on and off for over 2 years and they had promised me they would have a place for me. 3 weeks before they said it was impossible. I basically looked up the yellow pages and got nummbers of local papers and ended up in the Ulster Star. Turned out much better in the long run, I was able to get my name in another publication and they kept me on for bits and peices. I would say try your local papers. Best bet as most of the bigger dailies sort out their work exp months in advance usually.
