But what about the UK charts?
duke of hal

Forget that for now Salp, the UK album buying public are still too influenced by NME and Radio 1....hence all the Amy Winehouse, Killers and Kaisers rubbish in there....oh, and we mustn't forget the contribution Lily Allen is making to British music must we

There was a little old lady, who was walkin down the road
She was struggling with bags from tesco,
There were people from the city havin lunch in the park
I believe that is called al fresco

we have inlaws staying with us (arrived yesterday, staying for the week) from the UK and they have not heard of Duke Special ('kin heathens). After telling them of our days in Belfast they are in for a week of Duke music and education!!

i think lily allen gets a bit of a raw deal just because she is a female and has a famous dad. musically and lyrically what she is doing is not *that* much different to what mike skinner did a few years back with the streets and he was heralded as the saviour of british music.

I'm in a really bad mood cos Leya have split up, anyone who has made it cos of past releases, image or 'who they know' are fair game for me this week.....sorry.
Oh, and did I say that Snow Patrol are dull (cheers Gary, you could've offered Leya your support, they may have got to the masses and things may've been different)

Hey Duke of Hal... are you saying they should have offered Leya Duke's support slots in Belfast and Dublin... surely not!!!

Nope, I'm saying thay should've offered support slots for their UK mainland tour. Ciaran (Leya's singer) guested on Eyes Open....it could've made all the difference :(

In fairness, Gary has spoken out for Leya in the past. I have read quite a few where he has mentioned them.

and usually when you get to be the size that snow patrol are you don't get as much of a say in who your support acts are. it's often the decision of some guy in a suit behind a desk somewhere.

The Lightbody has been pretty good to our Dukester, have to admire him for that

Gary has taken every opportunity to "big up" the Northern Irish muso scene. In most interviews he has done he has mentioned Duke or Oppenheimer or other NI bands. Also his involvement with the Oh Yeah project shows he is committed to helping bring the scene forward and give bands the chances they never got in their early years.
But yeah, tis very sad that Leya didn't stick at it.

Maybe Ciaran's new solo career will involve a support slot sometime soon, eh?
Anyway, life goes on, and so does the Duke....any guess at what number the single and album will be at 4pm on Friday?
