Not sure who'll have heard this but they have officially gone their separate ways:
"The Beautiful South have split up due to musical similarities. The band would like to thank everyone for their 19 wonderful years in music."
Pity, they did make wonderful music. But better than churning out drivel and growing to despise each other, I suppose
