Hi Everyone
Anyone got any idea where Freewheel charted in the singles chart yesterday? I was really disappointed not to see it in the Top 40 but I would be interested to know where it actually charted.
Cheers
James

My order from Recordstore hasn't even been despatched yet. Still shown as "pending". So that's two cds and two dvds that won't have counted towards the first week sales.

Have you contacted the store?
Did any body else have this issue?

mine arrived safe and sound, nicely packaged and signed within about 4 days of placing the order. i still haven't got my vinyl from izumi though but that's for a whole other thread.
i'm also pretty sure that "sales" are counted in the charts from the moment the payment is made rather than the moment the cd arrives in your hands. :D

I had a similar problem a year or so ago with some David Ford cds I ordered. They never arrived - they did refund the money eventually though.
I've emailed them about my Duke order - no response as yet

Communication received today from Recordstore.
Hello
I am really sorry about this but we have just heard from our supplier that the following item has been deleted so is no longer available:
duke special freewheel: dvd VVR5044379
Because of this we have had to cancel this product from your order - those of you who have been charged for this have been refunded. If you ordered this product as part of the bundle then I?m afraid we have had to cancel the whole bundle as we are unable to split bundle orders up. The CD version is still available however, so if you?d like to order this please feel free to place an order on the site
I am really sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment caused and I hope this experience doesn't put you off ordering from us again

So not only do I not have any cds or Dvds (2 of each ordered) but my orders clearly did not count for the first week sale. Recordstore didn't even have them in stock. Given that this was the 'recommended' store on this site, how many other Duke fans could be in the same boat - and how many first week sales were lost?

I got mine okay.
I would be interested to know the chart position too if anyone could tell me...
Never had any problems with recordstore before, HMV - now there is another story!
I got the same email! :(
Me too (I got the mail on Monday)... Too bad because of the cheap price (?4)... :(
Thus I had to go to a Parisian store, hoping to find it... and eventually managing to catch two of the few copies left (one CD and one DVD) in the import section! But it costed me almost ?8...
Anyway, glad I could find them! :)
hmmm I ordered from them too but i havent got an email from them yet and my order says pending. wont be a happy bunny if i dont get my cds

I'm really disappointed at the availability of Freewheel. Dawn and I tried in HMV and Virgin Megastore in Middlesbrough for about a week during its first weeks release, and we couldn't pick it up. I got 1 copy of the DVD version, but couldn't get the single for love nor money. We ended up ordering Freewheel, but now it won't even count towards the chart.
V2 need a kick up the backside; what is the point in promoting Duke, his albums on GMTV on a morning and has been advertised for ASDA, Woolworths etc for about two weeks, Freewheel's been record of the week / A listed on Radio 2 for a couple of weeks, and when crunch time came, nobody could get hold of the single. And from the previous posts, it appears Recordstore didn't despatch all their orders either.
Middlesbrough is the next biggest town in the North East from Newcastle ... so why they didn't have a sufficient stash of singles there I'll never know.
And this might sound like a silly comment, but it's ok Duke's people emailing the mailing list telling us to buy it or get it from iTunes, but for hardcore fans who already have his album, whats the point of getting it off iTunes? I already MP3'd the album to my hard disk hours after buying it. The lure of a single is that I want a physical CD with the B sides.
Not having a go at the marvellous Duke, more at the unavailability of a single that should have propelled him to the top ten. I wonder if he would have made the top 40 had sufficient singles been available. Guess we'll never know :(
And DOES anybody know where he ended up actually charting?
End of rant :)
