Who's going tomorrow night?
Spoke to Duke on the phone yesterday for a radio interview and he seemed pretty enthusiastic. Should be a great show. Please tell everyone you know to come along!!!
Working on the principle that aging in inevitable but being old is optional - I'll be there with my daughter. Look out for small, grey-hared, bespectacled woman with much younger small, dark teenager - that's us and we can't wait for the gig! Please say hello! When we went to the David Ford gig and first heard Duke's music we were avoided with a vengeance as if we were some kind of very odd couple!! We're not, we're very nice and love Duke's music Jan and Gilly xxx

Im working the merch stand for the Duke.
I'll be wearing a lovely cream beanie, come and buy things from me or say hello.
See you tomorrow Ian, good luck with the show!!!
Cheers Matt! Good luck with the stall. Remember to keep me one of those ?20 album set thingys.
As we're all getting in to some sort of wierd clothing bargaining... today I'm wearing blue jeans, a red Duke Special t-shirt and a green jacket. Unless I get mobbed on the way, I'll still be wearing the same at the gig tonight!
I think this will be the 4th or 5th time I'll have seen the Dukester tonight! Can't wait!
I come off air at 7pm so I should make it to the gig for about 8!
see you there!

Amazing gig tonight yet again! Wonderful stuff.
Oh and pete, I was mistaken.... I'd actually deleted the picture of me and chip off my myspace account, not the one of you as i previously said! So I offended you for nothing! I've just got a bad memory! I feel bad for chip now, althogh he is my profile pic on here!
Cheers once again, brilliant show. good luck with the rest of the tour and hopefully will see you again soon!

Hi Jan, I saw you (i think!) and was going to say hello but got caught up selling merchandise and forgot to seek you out!
hope you enjoyed the gig anyway!
x
Thanks Ian, we loved the gig last night - Duke and Chip in great form - enjoyed the community singing and whisk/grater tuition although I've forgotten how it goes now!
We saw you galloping around taking pics - hope to see some of them on here. Actually i thought you were the guy selling merchandise but now realise that was Matt.
Apologies to Matt - Gilly will confirm it is another of my little habits - meet new friends and start an argument with them!!!!!!!!
Really good to have a few words with Duke - didn't know I was THAT scary and only joking about applying for the job of Official Stalker - much too busy with Life and horticulture.
Hon. mention for the support acts, Gary Dunne - pwerful stuff and Restaurant(?) sorry guys we sat next to some chattering women and caught most of their life story but not your band name!!!!!! Portugal and new haircuts anyone?
Love Jan

Duke was fantastic last night! He's like fine wine, gets better with age! Every time I see him, he's better than the last. It even seems like Chip's evolving over time too - When I first saw him he didn't say much ... now he's a huge part of the show, not just with the Stumpf fiddle but with every amusing action he does, symbols and all! :)
Dawn and myself might need to join Duke Special Anonymous ... we have a definite addiction to his music! One would usually complain that musicians don't play enough in the North, however Duke bucks that trend and we're looking forward to Hull, Sheffield and Carlisle that are all coming up when he's back over from Ireland. 8)
Its definitely a refreshing change to be able to follow a musician that's not commercialised. I just wish he could get a session on one of the national radio stations, if more people could hear him he'd beat all the crap in the charts thats supposedly amazing like Arctic Monkeys, Bailey Rae, etc etc.
I'll ditch the soap box now!
Back to the topic in question though: Brilliant night (yet again!). Can't wait til the next one.

'sup Mattchoo.
I'm the bloke that was umming and ahhing over the album box set, and ended up going to the cashpoint outside to get the cash to buy it... thank for the patience man, and for the recommendation, it's an awesome collection of songs.
For anyone else there, sorry if I pissed you off with all my picture taking. I was shooting and reviewing for egigs.co.uk, and the review will be online by the weekend (I hope).
It was a great show, and I can honestly see big things ahead for Duke.
Keep it unreal.

Hey, I don't want to keep banging on about this but I think it's definitely worth while....
Anyone who lives in or around Newcastle, can I just draw your attention to this thread....

Hope to see some of you down there!
Cheers

Forgot to ask ian if you got your request played by Duke.
Have looked at your posting about the gig on Monday. Sounds interesting.
In my youth i used to follow local bands. (The 60s that is!!!) We had some good ones but not as good as nowadays because they did mostly covers. Now there's so much original stuff. I love the Futureheads music.Mind you, their cover of Kate Bush'e 'Hounds of Love' is great.
So how do you get to the Baltic on a bank holiday except by car?.. and I haven't figured out the parking round there. Great place though. jan x
