Yeah, I've got mine. I've never been there before though. I'm hoping it's not all seating, though I get the feeling it may be.
I'll be one knocking about the front with a camera :)
Steve.
Youve got tix for Tool?! Man I'm jealous!!!!
Well I havent got tix myself yet but I shall be in attendance-gonna get working on them now actually.
I know I've already mentioned it to you Stephen but if anyone is about in the Auntie Annies direction the night before (15th) come check out TKO it should be a pretty good gig. And come say Hello too :)

I went to the BellX1 gig last night in the centre and we weren't allowed to use our cameras... in any form!! :!:
The security were very strict about it and were constantly shining laser pens at people in order to get them to stop.
I hope this was just a BellX1 thing and not the venue rules otherwise I'm going to have to be getting a wee press pass for my photos! :)

Aye, Claire was talking about not being allowed to take photos at the Island Arts Centre, going to have to look into that one...

It would be a real shame if the trusty old Nikon had to stay in its case Steve :(
It should be down to the artist and not the venue.
Security with laser pens?? Pathetic.

Anybody know about disabled seating in the centre?
When i was there i couldn't see anything special for them, but this person is a special case. It's his back you see... he can't stand for much longer than a couple of minutes and he is always hunched over.
Do you think they would let him sit in the rafters if you told the centre in advance?
Stephen

Can we have a head count for the gig tomorrow?
At the moment, I have:
Claire,
Guinness,
Lander,
sinecurea.
Anymore, sneaky - you going?

There are some left but they are selling fast. If you want to get one, call now. Right now. :)
Yes,
I'll be there. Looking forward to hearing Thomas Truax.

Sinecurea et al, are we going to have a wee meet up for a few before she blows tomorrow night then?
EDIT: Just off the phone with the centre.... they tell me that there is no special seating for disabled people and that it is only a first come first serve basis on the seats.
How in god's name is this guy going to see the duke if he isn't either, at the front or in the balcony looking down?!? I don't believe that this is a very well organised "revolution" :?

I'm going to try to be there from about 7 onwards. I've no idea what the Island is like for meeting for drinks etc. Anybody any clues?

so how's everyone getting to lisburn then? i'll be on the train if i can manage to get a ticket.

Last time i went i got a lift, due to my excess drinking that night and the police telling me to "get the f**k of the road, before i arrest you." But other than that it looks like its going to be a "city cab" home to belfast after the show.
I think mine worked out at like 14 quid home last time.
And if anyone has to get to a bank machine before the gig, i would advise getting dropped off in the centre of lisburn as the hike to one isn't worth it once your at the venue.
I learnt this from personal experience.
just come over to the guy in the Apple t-shirt
Could it not have at least been a linux t-shirt :!: (*hehe*)
Stephen

I'm going to be getting a lift there and back from Antrim. I've managed to drum up a car-full of people for this one :)
Maybe see ya's later then.
Remember, Apple t-shirt, camera, nerd = hello.

I'm in work as usual, so I haven't had the chance to go through any of my photos yet. I'm not sure if I'm going to have many decent ones though, due to my crappy lenses.

How amazing was last night in Lisburn?!! Felt a bit restrained by the seating like we had to sit and watch on our best behaviour but Duke more than made up for it. So good to hear him live again. Enjoyed the guys I hadn't seen before - dude with the clarinet and sax was fab. (Opps forget his name - Ben Castle maybe??) Loved that Revolution song he did with Thomas Thurex. Spectacular show!!!!!!!!!!

Another amazing gig.I had goosebumples the entire evening. Wake Up Scarlett was brilliant. Was hoping for Maps, but I guess it didnt fit in with the vib of the evening. Did anyone else just want to stand up and sing along?

Snowball... i was singing the whole time. I think the woman next to me was about to deck me cause she wanted to her him not me! :D
Speaking of the revolution song... i saw at least 2 people with video cameras that night.
Any chance of getting a wee web link for some footage? or a live mp3 for revolution would be great also...

Folks, I've finally got my photos from Wednesday's gig online.
Take a wee run over to www.stephenlynn.co.uk/gallery/DukeSpecialLisburn/ and pop back here to let me know what you think.
Cheers,
Steve.
Hey guys apologies for my disappearance the last couple of days! Been all over the place in the back of TKO's van aka 'The Beast' so havent had much access to the net except when I was in work...zombielike the next morning having arrived home at 5ish each morning and then in for work at 8-ugh!
Anyway! Regarding the TKO gig in Auntie Annies, two of the support bands pulled out unfortunately but through no fault of ther own. The promoters called the gig off in the end much much much to the guys (and my) dismay.
After that it kinda made heading up north a bit difficult with regards the ol' relatives n such...long story but ultimately ending in me missing the Duke gig :( Fair play to Stephen you did try to get round me but......Your shots look great too by the way.....did ya ever really really regret something?
So go own tell me more about the gig!!! Whats this new song everyone is talking about? How did Thomas Truax go down? He's a legend!
Ooh did I miss a boardy meet up??

Yes, it's the guy from Guinness's photo...
Lisburn was my first taste of live Duke, and I've not a bad word to say about him. I was so impressed. Not saying anything bad about his recordings but seeing him live was a lot better, I'm sure you'll all agree.
Hopefully it's the first of many run-in's with him and his crew. Ben Castle played well I thought.
Here's Ben Castle's website http://bencastle.com
It is a completely mad site - make sure you checkout the 'Who' link!
:!:
He is a fantasic musician and I think his playing on 'Songs From The Deep Forest' brings a whole new feel to many of the songs. An inspired choice of collaboration by the Duke!

I'd like make 2 apologies here:
1) Sorry to Ben, I wasn't able to get any images of him! During the first three songs, the other photograhers were in the way and the lighting wasn't great on him. For the rest of the set he had his back to me.
2) The stage manager's assistant. I don't think he likes the clicking of a shutter... :(
Steve.

...from the Island Arts gig, for the BBC Radio Ulster website www.bbc.co.uk/atl
I have photos, but I think I've reviewed too many DS gigs recently. Sadly, we don't have a budget for this, but we'd be glad to give you a writing credit.
Don't forget, he's co-presenting my Friday night show on August 25, at 10pm.
