howdy,

just got around to putting up some videos of the duke + david ford playing at an intimate secret gig at the waiting room restaurant in eaglescliffe, stockton last february. it was a beauty night + hopefully these clips give a little taste of it.

the videos are here (http://the-waiting-room.co.uk/wfsw/events/duke_special_and_david_ford).

there's a back-story here (http://www.davidford.mu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1210&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0).

kisses.

Hey there Stevo, first post I see and noone bothered to reply. People on here are strange sometimes *looks around unimpressed*
Those vids are fantastic, thanks for putting the links up! God it looks like it was an unreal gig! Have you/would you upload them to youtube per chance? I would love to have some of them as my flashbox...
Cheers Claire

Thank God I'm not the only one! I have been sick all day and the only thing I have been doing is browsing the net, and the one thing that stuck out in my mind is that unless there has been a gig the night before the majority of the people who use this forum do not tend to post things.

It doesn't have to do with the Duke, There are sections labelled "General" and "Other Bands" for the needs of all other forms of conversation!

Ya see now! Thank you!
Theres a strange snobbery around message boards, I've found this a lot. Esp on the Frames board. If you are new, noone ever replies to your messages. Its only when you have been around for a while that you get 'accepted' into the group and therefore people will talk and reply to you.
DOWN WITH THIS SORT OF THING!
As Guinness said there are general forums for a reason, lighten up people! The reason band forums are set up os to provide a platfrom on which fans to talk about the artist but also to get to know each other as well.
I have been lucky enough to make some genuinely great friends from different forums. Sure it can be a bit wierd meeting up at first but now I dont think twice about boardy meet ups. Some message boarders are my best frineds in Dublin these days. And Im glad to say that I've made some pretty cool friends on here too *looks up to previous poster amoungst others*

In my opinion... If you are a first time poster and want to let a little bit about yourself known to the board, i suggest going to the "whos who?" topic in the General Section of the board.

It is also a nice way to introduce yourself and what music you are into other than the main man himself!

ah, jeez. i'm a bit embarrased now, with the sympathy replies + all.

thanks claire thats very sweet. dunno about that youtube malarkey but i'm gonna put the original AVIs up somewhere for the david ford fans.*

in case any one's around these parts, here's the current line-up for this season's events (http://www.the-waiting-room.co.uk/wfsw) at the restaurant. peter + chip have played a few times + we're hoping they'll squeeze us in again even though they're famous + that.

* super friendly lot (http://davidford.mu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1210&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15), they are (ahem!)

I think the Duke forum is a lovely little community!

It may be people just haven't got round to watching the clips yet. I've only watched a couple so far and it looks like it was an excellent and fun evening. Nice to know the gig did really happen and wasn't just one of those urban myths. The set list sounded incredible so we just need a bootleg recording of it now!

Thanks for posting them Stevo.

I didn't comment cause the sound did work on my machine, thought I'd leave it until later.
But I'm certainly not going to be bullied or guilt-tripped into posting for the hell of it, and I would never expect the same of anybody else here.

I dont think anybody is trying to bully you into replying, certainly not me! I'm just pointing out that in my opinion a lot of posts get viewed quite a number of times but no-one seems to leave comments or replies. I thought in this case the thread and the link definately merited a reply of some sort.
I think this has been taken out of context and gone way out of hand! Jebus! :?

Ok perhaps we should just leave it that note then?
As I said thanks for the link Stevo, that gig looked unreal :)

Claire, bear in mind that most of the people reading the threads are unregistered guests who never post.
For example, as I'm typing this:
"In total there are 7 users online :: 2 Registered, 0 Hidden and 5 Guests"
