Hey all!
Im prob the only person on here who went to this gig last night but I thought I would share the experience anyway.
Well it was the first time I got to head to a Duke gig without driving for hours, and I was staying 100% sober for an interview today so all in all it was going to be a new experience!
So the man himself appeared on a dry ice filled, dimly lit stage to kick off with a very mellow rendition of John Lennon Love. I seemed to be the only one who recognised the song, and probably annoyed everyone by singing along out loud, but I couldnt resist. Anyway, the crowd were very different to any of the DS gigs I have been to before, very much a room full of people waiting to hear Freewheel and LNIND, but they soon got into the Duke experience. Overall I think they were very impressed.
There were some really annoying drunk people up front near me, who annoyed everyone. One guy who kept shouting and putting his camera phone in Peter's face, which must have been REALLY annoying.
There were a few nice surprises like a lovely rendition of Quiet Revolutionaries with Peter on the box and Ivo on the ivory, it was very nice, well done :) I had the pleasure of hearing the Baby Britain cover for the second time in a week (Ulster Hall), and a lovely Burt Bacharach number too!!
All in all it was a fantastic gig. Def a different experience to every other DS gig but I really enjoyed the night. A large female fan club were hanging around at the end of the night trying to convince the Special one to go to the local cattle mart of a night club, Im just hoping he took my advice and stayed clear of the Lodge :) only time will tell!!
ps: still havent look at the ulster hall shots but here are one or two from last night http://www.katiecrowley.com/albums/Dolan's/
nothing exciting but sure... a few snaps all the same.
