Duke closed the opening of the Oh Yeah building last night. A secret gig of only about 100 people. The fools, Jetplane landing, Gary Lightbody (with Lisa Hannigan for Some Surprise and Set fire...and Guy Garvey from Elbow for Teenage Kicks), Elbow, James Walsh from Starsalior and then obviously the Duke) It was absolutely brilliant, possibly the most surreal day/night of my life...
We got

The song from Huckleberry with Rae
'Careless Heart'
And he ended with a cover of the Ash song 'Oh yeah'
(there was a few more...but I can't remember- slight over consumption of free booze!) Scott will hopefully remember them as he usually does...
Also I have one thing to say...that Mrs Special is such a rude cow! ;)
The less said about this the better, eh????

Well Sian... I think any woman in her right mind would have a few choice words to say when a curvy young lady asks her man to sign her chest!!!!

Actually that was one of the things that I vaguely rem from my first (very drunken) encounter with Mr Special. We were standing outside Dolans in Limerick when this beast of a woman came bounding upto Peter, I'm not being mean (well I am) but this woman was 3-4 times the size of him...anyway she pulls her already very low top down and roars in her big culchie accent 'sign dese!', Duke just looked at her in shock and amazement and said 'ah no!' and ended up signing her hand or something...ah it was hilarious at the time :)
Therefore Siano...for the that reason ,I believe you to be the only woman with his signature...erm..in that region-good on ya teehee!

As for the gig... it was such a privelege to be there at the start of something new and exciting that's cooking in Belfast.Well done Stuart, Gary and Davy.Here's to loads more!
Great music, great company and so chilled with everyone sitting on the floor just soaking up the atmosphere, felt like being at a festival- only warmer!

Well, it just looks like we are both bad influences on one another then ;) This means that you are going to have to be nice now, otherwise you might get a warning from the Mods, so best behaviour please!! hehe
I definately agree though about it being a privledge, it was a very exciting to be in the presence of something so huge and potentially great (and I am not even talking about the Lightbody)!
It was a very nice feeling showing people round on the tours and watching their reactions when they saw how big the place was and the potential it has and can be used for. Its going to be a force to be reckoned with on the music scene me thinks.
And as for it feeling like a festival vibe, someone else mentioned that to me! I think it was the calibre of musicans and the fact that it was so relaxed, more of a party feel than a gig. Also people smelt better than if it were a festival and the loos were clean! :D

Haha, bronwen's a new one i must say :D Don't worry, i'm used to people mixing up my name for the past 19 years, you're not the first and ya certainly won't be the last!
But yes i have the aforementioned photo, it shall be uploaded once I finish my exams and return to Cork where my camera cable is located - sorry for the delay :( its worth the wait though, heh.
^ Less said the better. I think I am goin to start pleading the fifth ;)

Funny that, I kind of wished I remembered less...
I only just remembered that somehow me and Bl?th walked from the Kitchen Bar to Thompsons to get a taxi home..I have NO idea even where the kitchen bar is therefore, no clue how I got from there to Thompsons... :S

I like that from the same event!! he has some super shots though, lots of publications too, been a fan for a while
Thats the lead singer of Jetplane landing, they were great..he has SO much energy on stage! I like how that comes across in that pic.

Just clearing up I presume, duke was the last act on.
neither of them were half as amused as me and mrs. Special, I havent laughed so hard in ages, it was hard to keep the camera steady :D

And Mrs Special...'the truth will out'..? I am afraid as there is no proof, photographic or otherwise of the coercion it took for that moment to take place, therefore I will have to concede defeat ;)
(But I think the grin on Mr Special's face says a lot ie: he knows I'm no teeny-bopper-girl-fan...one hopes!!)

In hindsight I was foolish Sian, what was I thinking :confused:
The Lightbody seems to be getting a little possessive, did he really think you'd be leaving with just his name on your shirt?? Pff, nothing worse than a clingy pop star :rolleyes:
