I wish I knew why. This was all meant to be a surreal joke a year or more ago but it's got bigger than me.

I can just imagine all bunny ears wearers hopping their way to the front led by chief bunny (GG) chanting 'bunny ears coming through'. It would be such a laugh

I was trying to decide between standard and VIP and decided to go for the VIP. I'm hoping it means that I have the choice of where to go as the description was it gives you "access" to the VIP area. I hope that means that I can also go to the front if I want to, but then go and use the toilets/bar in the VIP area. Perhaps Stephen might know?
Ooh, good thinking Dawn, best of both worlds.

This is going to be an absolutely ROTTEN day.
Tickets bought for DukeBox. Then I saw a little notice up in the corner saying over 16's, ID required. Oh dear god.
Mercy? Please?

Hi,
this may be a v silly question but when you try to book the VIP tickets its asking for a promo code? Where do you get that code from? I spoke to a friend who was at the VIP area last year and I think it just means you can dander over to the bar etc a bit more easily and maybe there's a wee bit of seating but it wasn't a large area and I believe that last year anyway the main action was in the non VIP area. It may be different this year tho and I wasn't there myself so don't quote me!
ou est le code sil vous plait?

Stephen mentioned in the other thread (http://www.dukespecial.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3649) that the code will be included in a newsletter going out today, but members of Duke's Digital Digest (http://www.dukespecial.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=64) have the link and passcode now.
Hope this helps.

That's fair enough. When I go to a show I arrive early, get to the front, and I stay there. Being a non-drinker, it's easy for me. No regrets as yet; to pay an extra £10 for the chance of getting under cover if it rains and losing my place at the front isn't a priority.

I would like to go - but I would like to bring my children. I'm holding on to see what they say about under 16s.

Yes Robi, alas, in my family I am the only Duke fan...the others remain unconverted, but may have been put off by my incessant playing of his tracks!
As such I will be going to Dukebox alone. A bit scary!

OK - here's the gen.
Just been on Facebook. Stephen logged in to chat to goad me with the 'B' word and I brought up the VIP ticket subject.
Now it's clear VIPs can come and go (I thought it was segregated) I wanted to upgrade. It was, however, too late as my standard ticket's been sent already.
SOOOOOOO.....
I bit the bullet and have just paid for a second VIP ticket.
This means that any day now I will have a hard copy bona fide normal ticket for Dukebox arriving in the post I won't be using.
Anyone who is going, who hasn't got one yet and isn't going in the VIP area, PM me as I might be able to save you some cash (no, not ALL of it!)
Lots of love

Pah! This isn't a forum. It's a species-prejudiced dictatorship!
Woo! Chuffed about you being in vip area GG, lets face it, you should be with the 'special' people ;) (no Duke pun intended). Also chuffed as tickets have arrived this morning :D. Also chuffed cos I thought I'd comitted some terrible faux pas when I saw my b***y had been censored and now I know it's just your rabbits that are being discriminated against.
I shoulda put this on the reasons to be cheerful thread shouldn't I!

There must be some sort of specist law surrounding those cousins of hares. To make matters worse my cats bought in the back legs of a mr or mrs b. unny this very morning - a conspiracy!!
When will we know about the u16? Have 2 vip tickets for me and hubbie, but at mo kid will be 'burrowing' somewhere or her ownsome looking for those all elusive carrots!

Eh a wee bird told me that Mr Ford might be heading to Belfast between the 25th & 29th August!!;)
It's up on the Belsonic site. According to which, the line up is:
Duke Special
Magic Numbers
Bell X1
Jerry Fish and the Mudbug Club
David Kitt
David Ford
The Voluntary Butler Scheme
Thomas Truax
The Lowly Knights
Dan Michaelson and the Coastguards
One Day International
Katie and the Carnival

They've obviously added to the line up since I looked at it yesterday, as they only had about 3 other names.
What a brilliant line up. So many of the brilliant acts I've seen as Duke support acts. I really can't wait until August now.
malteaser - don't worry about having no one to go with. I'm going to be on my own and so are a few others. You're welcome to tag along :)

I got mine a couple of weeks back and the return flight was under £6, just paying huge airport taxes but still about £80 all done. I suppose those two weeks have rocketed the price.
OG - agreed. Rob did a fine set. Did you get his CD single, because THE EIFFEL TOWER AND THE POST OFFICE TOWER is brilliant on that?

I also agree, VBS is great. The Trading Things In single is great.
I saw him (although it was 3 of them at the time) play a short set in the Bristol O2 Academy earlier this year and it was great (but too short). It's a shame his album comes out AFTER DukeBox has taken place. I haven't yet, but I'll be pre-ordering (http://www.recordstore.co.uk/productdetail.jsp?productPK=unittest-UkYCF8dAzNDpTbsnqN3IEb-13) it soon.
The Tabasco Sole CD single (http://www.recordstore.co.uk/productdetail.jsp?productPK=unittest-rOcuOxGTx1ULOkefqN3IEb-1) is out on 20 July though, which I'll probably get too.

Neil hannon and Duke - good lord life is definitely on the up - just please let the small folk in or I may have to buy my girl something ridiculously expensive to cheer her up!!
Neil Hannon!! I've been waiting for the opportunity to see him live for a long time now! I would even put up with the cricket songs ;) to hear him.
The Magic Numbers should be good too.
When will we hear about under 16s Stephen? It would be good to book the flights before they go through the roof.

Just got back (about an hour ago!) from the album launch for the duckworth lewis method at the oval tonight. It was fab and went down a treat... anyway, ...I somehow managed to bump into Neil and Thomas outside the ladies loos and ask them about Dukebox. Neil said they really want to make it but there is an issue with their schedules so still not sure at the mo ... we'll just have to wait and see! Really really hope they can though, they were brilliant tonight, very funny and the album is superb. We also got treated to an encore of national express, hurrah!!

*bump* just means bumping something back to the front of the queue; it refers to a subject that isn't being responded to, or the original poster feels deserves attention.
In the mid-70s, the group KENNY were clearly self-serving egotistical baskets.

hi, i am quite tempted to go to this (haven't got my ticket yet tho) but am still undecided, is a fair distance to travel for me and there is one thing i am worried about... does anyone in the know know anything about the scheduling yet... are duke and david ford playing at the same time on two different stages or are they staggered? they would be the two main acts i would wish to see, and presume the same applies for many, but wouldn't want to go if there is a clash... any ideas?
Chris - Custom House Square is not that big really, so I would imagine that the acts would alternate or it could be a bit weird acoustically. St George's Market was done that way (someone has mentioned that in another thread I think?) - the only difficulty being that if you are at the front for one act when you "about turn" you are at the back for the next! Not a problem really. But this is only what I imagine might happen - consult the oracular Stephen perhaps?
Did anyone else print their ticket from the Ticketmaster site?

I'm seriously considering going to this alone...!
I really really want to go-it's supposed to be for my 18th birthday (that's all I want to do for my 18th-I don't want a party, I don't want to go out, I just want to see Duke!) but my fellow Duke gigger is busy that day at a surfing event in Portrush and can't come with.

I know GG, I know, but i'm really sorry-my dad won't let me buy yours-he says if i'm going, i'm getting it from Ticketmaster :(
I tried telling him that you were much more reliable than Ticketmaster and accused him of being prejudiced towards the bunnies, (to which he then replied, "of course i'm not...he's one of us" as my surname is O'Hare) but he was having none of it. :(
Sorry
