I'm not sure I want to answer this - Songs From the Deep Forest and I Never Thought This Day Would Come both have completely different memories for me, and I don't necessarily mean musically. Songs From the Deep Forest would be my first choice for favourite, but because it makes me remember seeing Duke for the first time, rushing out to the foyer at the interval in Cardiff to try to get the CD with what seemed like hundreds of others trying to do the same, waiting for Duke, Chip and Paul to sign it (along with hundreds of others) with only 2 pens between them, whilst hoping Crowded House weren't coming on stage yet, and then playing the CD in my car the next week - I can still remember the road I was driving along when I heard Freewheel for the first time on the CD, and the images it invoked in me. Musically, I probably prefer SFTDF as a whole, but there are some amazing songs on INTTDWC.......I may vote later!!

Difficult for me too. There's more stand-out moments on SFTDF, but there's no tracks on INTTDWC I dislike - and there's a couple of SFTDF I skip past. Can I not vote?

AiG always - the stripped back raw beauty of it - and also the reminder of when you first saw the dreadlocked one with the bizarre fella on the stumpfiddle

I have to say I truly love all of these albums, Songs just pipped it for me because its the first one I heard when I discovered Duke and fell in love with his music.

Its only a collectiong of the Lucky Me and My Villian Heart E.P's, and there more than well worth a listen. I would recomend getting them if you dont.
Ohh i'll get them the minute i pay my credit card back... 8 letters from the bank in one month... a recession who knew...

This is impossible, it's like choosing which of your children you love the most!
(And, no Michelle, just because you're a Duke freak doesn't mean earn you any bonus points :D)
Michelle has the Lucky Me and My Villian Heart ep's on vinyl but we can't listen to them until Santa comes.
SFTDF is probably slightly, maybe better as a complete piece of work but live I think many of the songs from INTTDWC are without few equals.
Certainly, Let Me Go at St. George's Market simply blew me away as a single performance so on that basis alone INTTDWC gets my vote.

Wonderful to see how protective we all are... very much an exercise in trying to pick from a set of things you love entirely, those which you love just slightly less than the others!
For me, my all-time favourite has to be SFTDF, simply because that's what I heard first that made me fall in love with Peter's music. It's an incredibly strong album that I fail to skip a single track of, and that takes pride of place at the top of my CD rack. That said, it's more about having an emotional connection with so many of the songs, and linking those with seeing him perform them live. Although, when I think of 'Mockingbird' and 'Why Does Anybody Love' or 'Closer to the Start' and 'Love is a Series of Scars'... nah, it's just too hard a question!

That was a difficult choice but I choose AiG as it reminds me of seeing Duke for the first time and my then Girlfriend (now Fiancée) getting the CD for me as a present when I became hooked on his music.
Particular tracks I remember standing out when I saw him were Freewheel (no real surprise there), Last Night I Nearly Died, Don't Breathe and Low. Well when I got the CD it had 3 out of 4 on there and was played non-stop for days and the rest, as they say, is history. :)
