So sorry that we can't make this gig Carola :( - I do hope that you will post a report and keep the board active

Are you going to the gig in Belgium the day before Amsterdam or any of the UK/Ireland shows in May/June?

Ofcourse I will post a report! Too bad you can't make it to Amsterdam, are you going to visit any of the other shows in UK or Ireland?
This will be my only opportunity to see Duke Special, Belgium is a long way and more expensive because it's a festival. I'm still hoping to see an Ireland show though - in the near future hopefully ;)

The link I got Leslie - says "Paradiso presenteert Duke Special in Bitterzoet. Adres: Spuistraat 2, Amsterdam"

The Paradiso is a very large building with large concert room and a smaller one in the same building - I believe that this refers to the smaller of the two halls but I'll leave it to Carola to give the definitive answer...

I'm not sure, I think Bitterzoet is part of Paradiso, but maybe in another building. In Paradiso the rooms have other names. It seems to me that they bought another building to present more gigs. Good thing ;)
I'll check it out this weekend and let you know!

Would love to come and bring the girls. Any idea of what airline has cheap flights?

check out the belgium gig..... it looks like a big circus tent on a beach - may be ideal for girls and is also near a ferry port (could be cheaper than flying)?

I haven't used it for ages, but http://www.skyscanner.net/ gives you an idea of the options available. It used to have a chart showing the prices each day, but I can't find that on the site, should give you some ideas though.

The concert is at Bitterzoet, Spuistraat, not Paradiso. I think the venue cooperates with Paradiso.

I was supposed to come to the show in Amsterdam, but my plane from the US was delayed for almost a week, so I had to cancel my whole trip. I still have 2 tix for the show, so if someone needs them, let me know, I can email them to you.

Gig was fab. small atmospheric venue with Ben as the matador but acting all geography teacher when Duke swore in the soilders song.Leslie will as ever post a real report and vids. For me it was a great gig, lots of interaction with the audience and at one point Duke was singing words from a mobile phone! He took requests for the last couple of tracks which showed how many songs that the Dutch audience knew and Dukes generosity. Love will tear us apart was again a highlight for me as I just love the emotion he puts into it. It was nice to be at a gig in summery aitire, bejewelled sandles (atygal) and not steaming from my rain soaked clothes (kittykat). As ever he was generous with his time, signing , posing for photos and chatting to everyone after the gig.:o.

All in all - I had a ball, Duke was a gent, Ben was a blast and Jonny the soundman was a sweetie.

hi we had a great time in Amsterdam and bumped into Duke, Ben and Johnny whilst we were doing a "fizzy" (sizing up the venue and location before the gig)
The venue was quite small but the crowd were very appreciative of the music and were so respectfully quite doing all the quite songs which i liked :)
Although the fizzies could not be there, their very good friend Liesbeth came up from Rotterdam and we shared the evening with her (and lovelly she was)
At the end of the gig duke did 3 covers which i will post and invited pinksacha and myself to join him, ben, johhny and some dutch friends for a drink. A delightfull day indeed.

I was having a nose around YouTube last night and came across some videos from the Amsterdam gig that I hadn't seen before. I know that three of them are the same songs that elvisleslie had posted but I thought it might be nice to see the performances from a different angle.
