Article in Belfast Telegraph supplement 24/7 last night (Friday 23 Feb)
Greet the elite . . . Friday, February 23, 2007 A new rock aristocracy has emerged in the wake of the Brit and Meteor awards. Maureen Coleman whittles down the acts - two of them playing Belfast next week - making the biggest impact on Ulster ears Duke Special Belfast vaudevillian singer- songwriter with a mean line in hair extensions and eye make-up Achievements: Ok, so he hasn't won a Brit, or even a Meteor, despite being nominated for three, but this Belfast singer (also known as Peter Wilson) is a star on the rise. He's been kicking around the local live scene for several years, but began to attract a lot of attention last year when he signed to V2 records, home of Paul Weller and Bloc Party, and supported Snow Patrol at the Odyssey Arena, just before Christmas. Plans for 2007: More television appearances and festival slots. He performed on Channel 4 and BBC2 last year and is rumoured to be limbering up for a slot at Oxegen this summer. Shooting star or here to stay? A sure bet to continue performing. Hopefully this will be the year he becomes a household name. Duke Special plays the Ulster Hall in Belfast, February 27 (sold out), and the Nerve Centre, Londonderry, March 1. Derry tickets available from www.ticketmaster.ie or www.wegottickets.com or venue. You can read the whole article online http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/en...cle2298473.ece no pictures though like in the actual paper, sorry  |
