Watch Treaty: Songs event on YouTube.

Posted on Monday 13th December

You can now watch the Treaty:Songs event that took place at NCH Dublin on Saturday 11th December for free on YouTube.

This project saw some of Ireland’s leading songwriters writing and performing songs to create portraits of a generation in a moment of suspended animation: December 1921 when Irish representatives gathered to debate the Anglo-Irish Treaty at the Kevin Barry Rooms at Earlsfort Terrace (which is now NCH).

Duke wrote a beautiful song about Erskine Childers and for his performance he was joined by singer MayKay and accompanied by Crash Ensemble.

The line-up on the night also included Lisa O’Neill, Gemma Dunleavy, John Spillane, Karan Casey, Maija Sofia and Jonathan Nangle and very special guest Christy Moore.

Due to new Covid restrictions being introduced last week in Ireland, the live show had to run at 50% capacity, so the NCH have now put the whole event up on YouTube for everyone to watch, so if you want to see this lovely event, just click here:

(Duke’s performance starts at 28 minutes in).
