THE JULIET LETTERS SHOW IN DECEMBER
In December, Duke will play 2 very special shows at The Empire Music Hall in Belfast, the first of which is on Wednesday 3rd December:
Duke Special and The Fews Ensemble present The Juliet Letters
This very special collaboration between Duke & The Fews Ensemble focuses on a remarkable album by Elvis Costello and The Brodsky Quartet, recorded over 30 years ago.
The Juliet Letters was inspired by a newspaper article about a Veronese academic who had taken on the task of replying to letters addressed to 'Juliet Capulet’ - as well as the fact that Costello and the Brodsky Quartet were fans of each other's music. It explores themes of love, loss, longing, and heartbreak, creating a world where passion and despair are laid bare. Duke’s distinctive voice and theatrical flair blend with the masterful, elegant accompaniment of The Fews Ensemble in a stunning retelling of a unique album not to be missed!
The first half of the show will be a programme of Duke originals and pieces inspired by The Juliet Letters. The second half will be a performance of the album in its entirety.
