THE GHOST OF ELVIS & THE 25 COMEBACK SPECIAL
Duke has been involved in a very interesting project called The Ghost Of Elvis with Bill Drummond (formerly of KLF) which culminates in THE 25 COMEBACK SPECIAL where he will participate in Act Three as one of The Artists in Residence:-
THE 25 COMEBACK SPECIAL is a three act play taking place at the Cushendall Golf Club on the 30th August starting at 6pm.
Tickets are available to buy HERE.
Act One of THE 25 COMEBACK SPECIAL takes the form of the world premiere of the 90-minute drama STAY. This film was directed by Tracey Moberly and shot in the Spring of 2024. It stars Tony Wright as The Artist and Puppet Elvis as a puppet of Elvis Presley. It does not end well.
Act Two of THE 25 COMEBACK SPECIAL takes the form of the world premiere of the dance piece Into The Graceland. This work is performed by the Ariffe Dancers and has been choregraphed by Philip Johnston. It is scheduled to last no longer than fourteen minutes and forty-one seconds. But schedules often go awry.
Act Three of THE 25 COMEBACK SPECIAL takes the form of a live performance by The Artists in Residence.
The Artists in Residence are made up of a number of musical artists based in the north of Ireland. Each of these artists were invited to write the second-best song they had ever written. This was to be done for, and in honour of, The Ghost of Elvis. And for recordings of these songs to be used in the soundtrack of the film STAY. These songwriters include Miss Paula Flynn, VerseChorusVerse, Eamonn McNamee, Arborist, Duke Special and Tanya Mellotte.
For Act Three, these artists will perform live their second-best song ever written as well as a song of their choice that had at one time been performed by the Real Elvis. For each of these performances, The Artists in Residence will be backed by The Gold Tips in all their full blooded and blown glory.
